Well, again, it has been a very long time since I’ve updated you all. Sorry about that! I just got back from the beach last weekend and got in some serious runs there. I ran a lot and had lots of company! My mom and amazing friend Meagan biked with me on some of my shorter runs, and then on my 9 mile run my boyfriend Joe and my mom biked along side me the entire way! And they only ran into me a few times so it’s totally okay.

The first weekend we were there was actually when I was supposed to run the 9. So I woke up early and got out there by myself and ran 4.5 miles in one direction… and then stopped. Idk what happened really but I couldn’t finish. So my mom and my aunt drove out to get me, dropped off two bikes, and my mom and I biked home. That made me feel better than just giving up completely.

Anyway, I’m starting to realize that this training and marathon is just as much mental for me as it is physical. I can train my body but if my head’s not in it, and I’m not motivated, it doesn’t matter. My mom and Joe helped me sooo much by being there the following weekend when I re-did the 9 miles and finished! They made all the difference.

And then this last weekend…I ran 10 MILES!!! Holy crap. I know I’m going to run 26.2 at some point but I’ve never run 10 before! I get so excited each time I go farther than I have before. Joe, David, Michael, and Dad were all there for that one. They all fished and then Joe and David each ran a 2.5 mile lap with me. Joe who, may I add, dislocated his knee, had surgery, and ran then for the first time in two months so that he could keep me going. Whatta sweetheart πŸ™‚

I’m so lucky to be surrounded by so many wonderful friends and family members who go out of their way to help me train. I could not do this without them!

And lastly, a BIG BIG thank you to the most recent donors – Marna, Papa, Aunt Jeanne, and Uncle Mike! Thanks you guys!! Everyone else… here ya go!

It’s Hot Down South..

So I just got home from Alabama and I’m now packing to spend two weeks at the Jersey shore with my family. Somehow all the running I have to do while I’m down there doesn’t sound so bad when I get to lay out on the beach all day after I finish… πŸ™‚

I did my longest run so far in Alabama last weekend… 8 miles! It was brutally hot and so so hard but I finished! Me, Dad, and my brother David all woke up at 6 am to beat the heat. I took off on my run and Dad and David went down the street to run Jones Valley Hill. The name is nowhere near as daunting as the hill itself. David ran hills until he couldn’t move his legs anymore and my dad drove back and forth, motivating and pushing the two of us. When David finished, I still had about 3 miles to go and I was dying. My legs were lead. So my wonderful father and brother sat in their air conditioned car with their ice cold water, and followed me around the neighborhood to keep me motivated (It was 7:30 AM and already almost 90 degrees at this point -__-). But really, they were great. They kept me going when I would have stopped, and David even got out and ran the last mile with me – what a sweetie! By the end, we were absolutely soaked. Then right after I finished, I put on my bathing suit, grabbed a raft, and took a solid 2 hour nap in my grandma’s pool… not a bad morning at all πŸ™‚Β Here’s some pictures!

I love running with my Nike+ running app! It keeps track of time, mileage, calories, speed, where I run and how I felt about it, and it also encourages me and plays my music – so cool!
