Well, again, it has been a very long time since I’ve updated you all. Sorry about that! I just got back from the beach last weekend and got in some serious runs there. I ran a lot and had lots of company! My mom and amazing friend Meagan biked with me on some of my shorter runs, and then on my 9 mile run my boyfriend Joe and my mom biked along side me the entire way! And they only ran into me a few times so it’s totally okay.
The first weekend we were there was actually when I was supposed to run the 9. So I woke up early and got out there by myself and ran 4.5 miles in one direction… and then stopped. Idk what happened really but I couldn’t finish. So my mom and my aunt drove out to get me, dropped off two bikes, and my mom and I biked home. That made me feel better than just giving up completely.
Anyway, I’m starting to realize that this training and marathon is just as much mental for me as it is physical. I can train my body but if my head’s not in it, and I’m not motivated, it doesn’t matter. My mom and Joe helped me sooo much by being there the following weekend when I re-did the 9 miles and finished! They made all the difference.
And then this last weekend…I ran 10 MILES!!! Holy crap. I know I’m going to run 26.2 at some point but I’ve never run 10 before! I get so excited each time I go farther than I have before. Joe, David, Michael, and Dad were all there for that one. They all fished and then Joe and David each ran a 2.5 mile lap with me. Joe who, may I add, dislocated his knee, had surgery, and ran then for the first time in two months so that he could keep me going. Whatta sweetheart 🙂
I’m so lucky to be surrounded by so many wonderful friends and family members who go out of their way to help me train. I could not do this without them!
And lastly, a BIG BIG thank you to the most recent donors – Marna, Papa, Aunt Jeanne, and Uncle Mike! Thanks you guys!! Everyone else… here ya go! www.crowdrise.com/witnessnyc2012/fundraiser/jenniferrobbins
